Funds will be provided for the relocation and expansion of the Tulsa Air and Space Museum. The new location adjacent to Mohawk Park will quadruple the capacity of the original location and will house additional meeting rooms, a main hall, four classrooms, a hands-on learning center, an audio-visual theater, space physics laboratory and an enlarged library and teacher resource center.
The Air and Space Museum will create a first-rate attraction that will accentuate Tulsa's role in aerospace education and industry. The museum will encourage our young people to pursue aerospace careers though our educational systems and seek careers in our own $3 billion aviation industry. Educational and entertainment opportunities will be available through the new Electric Sky Theater, which will feature the latest in visual and sound technology for sky and space presentations. This facility will also feature a 43,000 square foot main museum that will attract local visitors as well as tourists. Anticipated attendance with the completion of the facilities is 90,000 per year with annual revenues of $500,000.
