Sand Springs is located in the heart of Green Country, only six miles west of Tulsa and eight miles east of beautiful Keystone Lake. The city is nestled in the steep and wooded hills bordering the Arkansas River. Charles Page, a pioneer oilman, founded Sand Springs in 1908 with a vision of building a community promoting family living with a powerful and diverse industrial base. Sand Springs is now home for over 6,000 residential dwellings, 52 industries and over 600 small businesses.
The City of Sand Springs was incorporated as a city in 1912, just five years after statehood, and has operated under a council-manager form of government since the charter was established in 1969. The city is continually flourishing with an incorporated area of 19 square miles, a service or growth area of an additional 20 square miles surrounding the area, and a city population of 17,451 (2000 Population Census). Under this form of government the City Council, who are elected officials, appoint a city manager that is responsible for the operation and management of all facets of city government and policy directives of the City Council.
The Sand Springs School System is a source of great pride for residents and is geared to meet the specialized needs of students. The school system consists of a kindergarten center, six elementary, two junior high and one senior high school. Sand Springs is home to Tulsa Community College (West Campus); offering associates degrees through a two-year curriculum. There are also excellent universities and vocational schools such as Tulsa University, Tulsa Technology Center, Oral Roberts University, and Rogers University within 15 miles of Sand Springs.

Our Sands Springs community is a beautiful, progressive city. It continues to grow and prosper while preserving our family atmosphere. Sand Springs youth and adults enjoy a variety of parks located throughout the city. In addition, people of all ages take pleasure in walking; running or biking on the scenic Katy Trail which begins in Sand Springs and extends through the City of Tulsa.
Sand Springs has a variety of civic clubs and organizations that are major contributors to the community. Included in Sand Springs´ community spirit are a number of cultural and family fun activities. These are Discoveryland! an outdoor theatre featuring the award winning production of Rodgers and Hamerstein´s "Oklahoma"; the annual "An Herbal Affair and Festival", which draws participants and visitors from several states; and the annual Sunset Symphony held in the Triangle Park in the center of downtown.
Sand Springs Church List
The Sand Springs Senior Citizens Center offers a place for fellowship and recreation, and is also a Nutrition Site, offering a well-balanced nutritious lunch to seniors who come to the center to play cards, dominoes, work puzzles, play pool, or to help with the many fund raising projects. For those Seniors Citizens who are homebound, lunch is delivered to their residence. Each yeah, the Center serves over 15,000 on site lunches and delivers over 17,000 meals. The Center is open weekdays from 8 AM to 2 PM.
